Welcome to the Speech-Language Information Site for Lakewood Elementary

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year!  Below you will find some helpful information.  Please contact my by email if you have questions that are not answered below.  Have a great school year.

What is speech?

The Hurst-Euless-Bedford I.S.D. has a wonderful team of Speech-Language Pathologists serving the needs of students of all ages.  Services are provided to students with the goal of providing strategies and skills needed to access the general education curriculum to the best of their individual ability.  Students qualify for services by showing an educational need in one or more area including articulation (sound production), language (semantics, syntax, pragmatics), voice, and fluency (stuttering).

Who currently serves the students at Lakewood?

Students qualifying for speech services are served by Heidi Hasfjord.  Miss H., as she is know by the students, has a M.S. degree from Baylor University, is licensed by the State of Texas in Speech Language Pathology and has a Certificate of Clinical Competence form the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
