I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Jim Bannister, and I am the principal at L.D. Bell High School. I am very excited to be able to write the previous sentence. L.D. Bell has been a big part of my life for a long time. I was here in the early 70’s watching an older sister perform as a Raiderette, and I was here in the late 70’s as a student. It was at L.D. Bell that I met my wonderful wife. I returned after a ten-year hiatus to teach at Bell, and I was an administrator for seven years on this campus. I risk boring you with all of that to make this point: L.D. Bell is a special place for me. The reason that Bell is special is simple. It’s the people. It’s the parents, the community and the staff, but mostly, it’s the kids. I hope that Bell comes to be a special place for you as well. I am excited to be here. I am honored to work in this community, this school district and at this school. I hope that your, and your child’s, experiences at L.D. Bell are as special as mine have always been.
