Hi! My name is Mrs. Martinez and I am so happy to be a part of Oakwood Elementary. More importantly, I am thrilled to be your second grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of learning and adventures! I am excited to learn all about you, but first I want to tell you a little about me.

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX. Texas is my home! When I graduated from high school, I attended the University of North Texas. Go MEAN GREEN! I majored in Elementary Education and couldn’t wait to be in the classroom.

After graduating, I became a reading interventionist here at OTE! Although I loved being a reading interventionist, I was ready to become a full time teacher. I began teaching first grade at a nearby elementary school. After a few years, I decided to come back to OTE and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. Deep down, I have always been an Oakwood Owl! This will be my fourth year teaching 2nd grade at OTE!

My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married 12 years! He is a Japanese chef in Fort Worth and also runs a food truck business. At home, we have two very energetic boys. Eli is going into the third grade  and dreams of being an artist and musician when he gets older. When he's at home relaxing, he's usually riding his bicycle or kicking the soccer ball outside. Alex is going into first grade - melt my heart! He cannot wait to be an astronaut when he grows up and loves all things science.
