Welcome to Art at Hurst Hills!

Mrs. Ahaus's (pronounced A-house) Bio:

When I was in first grade, I told my teacher that I wanted to be an artist and a teacher.  Well, that has come true after an eventful journey.  I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1991 from Baker University (Baldwin City, KS).  I taught Kindergarten (12 years) and 2nd grade (8 years) in the Fox School District in Arnold, Missouri until my family moved to Texas in 2011.  I was an Interventionist (1 year) and First Grade Teacher (2 years) at South Euless Elementary in HEB isd until coming to Hurst Hills Elementary in the fall of 2014 to became the Art Teacher.  Along this great teaching career, I earned my Masters of Teaching in Art Education from Webster University (Webster Groves, MO) and became a professional potter.  I still show my pottery in a few shows a year in the DFW area.  I also keep very busy with my husband and three kids, whom I love dearly.  My love of kids, art, and teaching have all come together into this great experience of inspiring 500+ students to love and appreciate art and cultures of the world.  I feel so blessed to be a part of Hurst Hills Elementary!
