First Grade Mission Statement
Our mission for our First Graders is to provide a safe, fair, and nurturing learning environment. We will encourage growth and confidence through quality instruction to prepare them for success in 2nd grade.

Strategic Goal 2016-2017

By the end of this school year, 2016-2017, 100% of Mrs. Martin's class will meet or exceed the grade level standards (everything we need to know) for Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies as measured by the First Grade Standard Based Report Card.

Reading testing for the middle of the year begins, January 17th.



Please rember to sign and return report card envelopes.



Make sure to check and sign your child's MOOSE every night. Our assigned libray day is Friday unless the library is closed. 

 First Graders need to  be reading on level J by the end of the year and reading 50wpm.


 Every Night Students Should:

1. Read 20 minutes and Retell the story

2. Review spelling words

3. Review SWAP words

4. Use FAST MATH: https://samconnect.scholastic.com/auth/pages/Login?zone=STRCH

5. Practice basic math facts/ addition and subtraction








Homework: Homework packets are due at the end of the week (usually a Friday)

They may finish the work portion in one day if you would like however they are to read the story included EVERY night. They are also to study spelling words and SWAP words EVERY night. We will be having spelling tests almost every week and they are responsible for reading all SWAP words for a report card grade.
