Touch Systems Data Entry

TSDE is a course where students will learn the correct techniques of the touch-system of operating the keyboard. We will have several activities that also help improve accuracy and speed. After learning basic keyboarding, students will be introduced to a Business Document unit, and some basic Word formatting. They will learn how to create, format and print documents, including personal and business letters, memorandums, outlines and reports.

TSDE is currently offered at the Junior High to 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. Upon completion of the course, they receive a 1/2 elective credit towards High School graduation. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS CLASS COUNTS TOWARDS STUDENT'S HIGH SCHOOL GPA!

TSDE LATE WORK POLICY

 All assignments are DUE by their scheduled deadline/assigned date.

 Students are allowed to make-up Micro Type Lessons for full credit within a 1 week deadline, because they are only available on the school network.

Students are responsible for their own work and turning work in on time. Students can attend tutorials any day after school to get work completed. 

Required Supply List:
1. Folder with two pockets.

2.  Pencil or Pen

Items Needed, but NOT Required:
1. Bottle of GermX or Hand Sanitizer*
2. Box of tissue
3. Antibacterial Wipes*
4. Packages of Pens or Pencils

*Each student's station may be used by 6 different students everyday. Hand Sanitizer and Antibacterial Wipes are used to help prevent the spread of germs in the classroom.

Exploring Careers-7th Grade

Exploring Careers students will acquire the knowledge and skills that are essential to prepare for choosing their career paths. Students will explore various career fields and meet with various business professionals.  By the end of the semester, students will understand the basics of the working environment and will have researched multiple career fields.


Business Information Management

BIM is a course where students will learn the basic knowledge and skills for using the Microsoft Office 2016 Programs.  This course will cover the use of  MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, and MS Publisher. They will be able to create a variety of documents, presentations, databases and spreadsheets that will help them in future careers.

BIM is currently offered at the Junior High to 8th & 9th grade students.  Upon completion of the course, they will receive 1 credit towards High School graduation.  PLEASE REMEMBER THIS CLASS COUNTS TOWARDS HIGH SCHOOL GPA! There is no required pre-requisite for BIM, however, it is strongly suggested that students have experience in Touch Systems Data Entry.

Students will be utilizing SAM from Cengage Learning that follows the class textbook. Students will be responsible for submitting all assignments/projects by the deadline in SAMAssignments MUST be submitted online by the deadline. It is the students responsibility to make sure all projects/uploads are submitted successfully. Students will have 3 attempts to submit for the highest grade possible during the window of time. If a textbook project is not finished during designated class time, students are strongly encouraged to attend tutorials after school in Room 124.

Students will be responsible for completing each task in online trainings/demos to recieve full credit of the training by the designated deadline. After the deadline has passed, students will receive the grade/percentage for the assignment as posted as is. Students will be given an adequate amount of classtime for all assignments, and have access to complete training demos at home/outside of school.
