About Mrs. Hawkins:
I can't believe it, but this will be my 20th year to teach 6th grade!  As you can probably infer, they are my FAVORITE age group.  I have taught other grades as well, as far down as 2nd graders, for a total of 29 years as a teacher.  There is nothing on earth I'd rather be doing.  It is truly a joyful calling for me!

On a personal note, I have lived in our South Euless neighborhood for over 30 years, and two of my four girls actually attended South Euless Elementary.  Our youngest recently graduated from college, so now all four have a college degree.  Whew!  So proud of them:  1 engineer, 2 nurses, and 1 in ministry.  Now they are all married and I even have three adorable grandbabies! I have been married to the handsome Mr. Hawkins for 35 years.  We met in college; he was the cute boy in the next apartment.  I can actually say I married the boy next door!

Here is my PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT:  My mission is to lead my students to success by faithfully applying best practices in my teaching, by having the highest expectations for my students and myself, and by doing all of this with a spirit of kindness towards each child. I completely embrace the South Euless Mission Statement:  Every student, every day, excellence!

I am very pleased and excited to be teaching math this year!!!  This will be my 2nd year back!  I've had many successful years of experience, but 10 of the last 11 years I taught reading.  Now I get to go back to my first love!  I hope my passion for math will catch on with the kids!

My fervent hope and prayer is that we work together to see your child experience the greatest learning possible this year.  As you may have heard, I am pretty strict, but strive always to be fair.  Every student is precious to me, and I want each one to know how important he or she is.

Thanks for taking the time to read my bio!  Let's make it a great year!

Please don't hesitate to contact me anytime.  I can be reached at 817.354.3521 X5206 (after school starts) and leave a message.  I will return your call during my planning period, 2:15 to 2:50.  Another option is email.  You can contact me at ardishawkins@hebisd.edu, and again I will return emails after class is dismissed.  Always feel free to write a note in your child's MOOSE book as well, just remind your student to be sure and show it to me, as I only check those students who are in my homeroom.

See you soon!
