It is my goal for each of my students to have a great year here at Trinity.  Student success results from coming prepared to class every day, participating in class activities, completing homework assignments, and having a desire to learn.  Together, we can make it happen!

First Six Weeks (28 days of instruction)

 

Unit 1 Foundations of World History Prehistory through 300 C.E.-Neolithic Rev., Early Civilizations, Classical Empires, Fall of Classical Civilizations, World Religions; chapters 2-3 of World Connections and chapters 5-7 of Jarrett (3 weeks)

 

Unit 2 Expanding Interactions 300-1500 C.E.-Feudalism, Byzantine Empire, the Islamic World and the Mongol Invasions; chapters 8-10 of Jarrett (2.5 weeks)

 

Review and CBA 1 (4 days)

Second Six Weeks (29 days of instruction)

 

Unit 3 The First Global Era 1400-1800-Renaissance, Reformation, Scientific Revolution, Exploration and Colonization, Absolutism and Enlightenment, Empires Outside Europe; chapters 10-13 of World Connections and Chapters 10-13 of Jarrett (3.5 weeks)

 

 

Unit 4 Political Revolutions 1700-1850-American, French and Latin American Revolutions, and unification of Germany and Italy; chapter 15 of World Connections, and chapter 14 Jarrett (1.5 weeks)

 

Review and Final Exam (4 days)

 

Fifth Six Weeks (32 or 29 days of instruction)

Unit 5 Industrial Revolution and Imperialism- Industrialization in Europe, the United States, and Japan, western imperialism in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and revolutions in East Asia; chapters 16-17 and pages 211-213 in World Connections, and chapter 15-16 Jarrett (1.5 weeks)

Unit 6 World War I and the Russian Revolution- chapters 19 and 20 in World Connections, and chapter 17 Jarrett (1 week)

Unit 7 Great Depression and the Rise of Totalitarian States- Causes and global effects of the Great Depression, rise of dictators in Europe and Russia; chapter 23 of World Connections and pages 296-304 of Jarrett (2 weeks)

Unit 8 World War II- chapter 24 of World Connections, and pages 304-311 of Jarrett(1 week)

Sixth Six Weeks (29 or 28 days of instruction)

Unit 9 Decolonization and the Cold War- independence and nationalist movements in India and China, Cold War conflicts,decolonization around the world; chapter 25, 27, and 28 of World Connections, and chapter 19 Jarrett (2 weeks)

Unit 10 Shifts of Power in the Middle East- Arab-Israeli conflict, nationalist and independence movements, conflicts in the Persian Gulf; chapter 29 of World Connections, and pages 344-350 of Jarrett (1 week)

Unit 11 Contemporary Global Issues- population changes, globalization, genocide, terrorism, Arab Spring; chapter 30 of World Connections, and pages 350-354 of Jarrett (2 weeks)

Review and Final Exam (1 week)

 

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ATTEND CLASS EVERY DAY AND COMPLETE ALL READINGS, WRITINGS, AND OTHER ASSIGNMENTS SO THAT YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL IN MY CLASS!
