Activity: Discuss with your child important people in U.S. and Texas history and what they did to help our country and state. Examples are: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Stephen F. Austin.

Activity: Talk with your child about the current U.S. president and the White House in Washington, D.C.

Identifies American symbols
Activity: Show child pictures of American symbols such as the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, the American Flag, and the White House. Identify the pictures and discuss why they are important in American history.
