Running Club at Kids Beach Club 5k (April 2014)

Students in Oakwood Terrace Elementary’s Running Club recently participated in their first 5K race. At the 5th Annual Kids Beach Club Run and Easter Egg Hunt, held at Bob Eden Park, the runners were safe, hydrated, and entertained.

OTE Running Club has more than thirty boys and girls of all fitness levels. They have trained after school twice a week since September. Rosie Lyon, Jordan Rodriquez, and E.J. Gonzalez coach the students as they practice physical fitness and learn about keeping a body healthy. Runners review by playing games such as “swim fishy swim”, basketball, and even a little gymnastics. The club plans to continue training for the 6Stones Black and Blue Run in May.

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” – Heaven, 3rd grade

"My favorite time in running club was when I participated in the 5k race in which I got third place.  I got first place out of OTE Running Club.  I wish I could go to Running Club for a long time.” –Stephen, 6th grade
