Hurst-Euless-Bedford
SPORTS HALL OF FAME
In Recognition of
MARY ELIZABETH SALEH

INDUCTED FEBRUARY 6, 2010

Mayor Saleh was elected as the first female mayor of Euless in 1993 after serving two years as a council member and two years as mayor pro term.
Her tireless efforts to expand youth sports and activities are unparalleled in this region.  Mayor Saleh's commitment to building a strong community where the investment is in youth sports and activities is one of her greatest accomplishments and has lead to the City of Euless being selected by Money Magazine as The Best City in the State of Texas to Raise a Family.  Awards like that don't just happen; it takes leadership, commitment, a love for youth and someone with a vision for the future.  This community is fortunate to have found that person in Mayor Saleh.
Under Mayor Saleh's leadership and guidance, the City of Euless has made major upgrades to its existing award winning parks system and entered into a substantial expansion of that system.  A few of her accomplishments include: The Texas Star Golf Course, The Parks at Texas Star, The Doctor Pepper Star Center and Softball World.  Each of these venues either focuses directly on youth and youth sports of is used by the youth in this area to participate in sporting events.
The Citizens Police Academy, Citizens Police Alumni Association, Youth Police Academy, Cops on Patrol, Crime Watches, Neighborhood Associations, Town Hall meetings and Teen Court have all been instrumental in reducing crime in Euless during Mayor Saleh's term of offices.
Mayor Saleh participates in the "Mayors for Meals" campaign in the Meals of Wheels program annually, demonstrating her concern for the disables, elderly, and homebound persons in the community.
