What is the HEB ART CAR? Students from the TEC Automotive Collision Classes , under the direction of teacher Eric Stevens , along with select art students from Bell (Edgar Miller) and Trinity (Carolyn Allen) are participating in an ART CAR project to be shown in Houston's international attraction, the Annual Orange Show Art Car Parade & Competition, May 8-10. The 1983 Toyota pickup was donated for the project by the family of Jeffrey H. Morris, a local talented musician and artist with an inspiring passion for life, who tragically lost his life last October after a courageous 2-year battle against cancer.
The project promises to be a unique and creative experience as well as a community-bonding opportunity for the students and all involved. The
ultimate transformation of the truck into a boat (see photos) will commemorate the favorite pastime of fishing that Jeffrey shared with his grandfather, the original owner of the truck. The family has established The Jeffrey Morris Foundation, which will fund the art car project though donations and has adopted the following mission statement:
