Bell Manor’s third grade has gone back in time this six weeks to study the Ancient Roman Empire as a part of their Social Studies Core Knowledge Curriculum.
We studied Roman myths, Pompeii, the Latin language, and Roman numerals. Students also learned about Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Romulus, and the life of a Roman Soldier.
As a culmination to this unit, we held a Roman “feast” complete with authentic food and our version of the Roman games. Keeping with the theme “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” students came dressed in creative Roman togas and accessories to enjoy their day.

Everyone knows that after a feast, the Romans lounged to help their food digest.
