Bell High School:  Baseball All District, District 7-4A Most Valuable Player 1972;  Paris Junior College:  Baseball Scholarship, Two No-Hitters, All Conference, Most Valuable Player, Outstanding Athlete Award;  Drafted First Round Atlanta Braves 1974;  Ten Seasons in Major Leagues:  Braves, Pirates, Cardinals, Phillies, Royals;  Rookie Season 1978:  Won First Seven Decisions, Winning Pitcher in Game that Stopped Pete Rose's National League Record Forty-four Game Hitting Streak;  National Player of the Week, July 14-21, 1980;  One Hit San Francisco Giants 1983;  Fifth in Voting for Cy Young Award 1983;  Top Ten Among National League Pitchers in Shut-outs, Strike-outs, Wins, Completed Games, Innings Pitched 1983-84;  Left-handed Starting Pitcher on Sporting News National League All Star Team 1983;  Career Totals:  3.99 ERA, Thirteen Shut-outs, 940 Strike-outs.
