![]() On Thursday, February 2, 2006, eleven Euless Junior High School students participated in the National Groundhog Job Shadow Day at the Grand Hyatt DFW Airport. The students had the opportunity to learn about the Hyatt Corporation and their holdings during a presentation on the company in the Grand Hyatt Board Room. Each student was given a nametag, an assigned seat and treated like an employee for the day! After the orientation, the students went on a tour of the Grand Hyatt property which included the fitness center, guest rooms, ballrooms, the kitchen, department offices, and “back of the house” – the inner workings of a hotel that guests never get to visit!
After the students were familiar with their surroundings, they were paired with a manager of the hotel and put to work! Students were placed into the following departments: Guest Reception, Purchasing, Housekeeping, General Manager, Guest Services, Kitchen, Security, Food and Beverage, Sales, Human Resources and the Restaurant. After spending time “shadowing” their mentors and learning about their positions and responsibilities, the students had the opportunity to enjoy lunch in the Grand Hyatt’s restaurant, The Grand Met.
It was an enjoyable day for everyone and the students and their mentors learned something from each other! We hope the Grand Hyatt asks us back next year.
