Below you can find some of the standard documents for reference throughout the year.

3/1/2017 7th On-level Assignment: Visual vocabulary word list: Internal stimulus, External stimulus, response, homeostasis, positive response, negative response, ignored response, Geotropism, phototropism, instinct, and learned behavior (11 total).  On each, there should be a definition (in their own words), a colored picture to represent the term with an explanation of the picture.  For instinct and learned behavior, there are also 7 examples cut & pasted in the appropriate section.


Description

This is meant to replace a zero or a low grade on a daily assignment (category B). It is to be completed and turned in during the 5th week of a six weeks grading period, and students may only complete one per six weeks period. Articles must be from a reputable science source and must be well written by the students to receive credit.

ZERO OR LOW GRADE MAKE UP ASSIGNMENT

SCIENCE ARTICLE

Each six-week period there will be an opportunity for you to turn in a Science related article with a summary and its importance. If the assignment is done correctly, it may replace your zero or lowest daily grade. You may turn in ONE article for the six-week period.

THE ARTICLE IS DUE BY FRIDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK OF THE SIX-WEEK PERIOD!

Requirements:

- One science related article – out of a magazine, newspaper, newsletter, or internet.

- INTERNET ARTICLES MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY YOUR INSTRUCTOR.

- At least a 12-sentence paragraph summarizing the article – who, what, when, where, why

- At least a 12-sentence paragraph explaining what your thoughts are of the article

For example:

Why did you choose this article?

How does it relate to science class (specifically what concepts)?

Do you agree or disagree with the article? Support why.

A PARENT SIGNATURE that shows you have discussed the article with them.

How it should look when you turn it in:

- Science article cut out with scissors.

- Article stapled on top of your sheet of paper with the summary and your thoughts.
