AP WORLD HISTORY 2017 - 2018

Organize your AP World History binder (instructions on page 2). We will check these during the first week of class. Trust us, you’ll want to start off as organized as possible.

Complete the Unit 1 Terms Chart. These words can be found easily online (hint: add “AP World History” to your google search of the word to get more course-specific definitions).  A test will be given over these words during the second week of class. There will be some intentional crossover between the Words That Will Make You Sound Smart list and the unit 1 list.

Watch the first four videos in the Crash Course World History series on YouTube. Complete the questions. DO. NOT. COPY. FROM. ANYONE. ELSE. Do not divide them up and trade answers. Each individual is to watch every single minute of every single video, and generate original responses to every single question. Any attempt to circumvent this will result in a zero for the assignment that cannot be made up, replaced, or dropped.

Complete the Period 1 Mapping Assignment.

Note: Academic honesty is expected of all THS students, especially those earning extra grade points for AP classes. All work submitted should be your original thoughts in your own language. This is not a course you can copy your way through (many have tried and failed, so don’t say “bet”- this is not a challenge). If that’s how you roll and you’re not willing to change your habits, AP World is not for you. If you are interested in a schedule change, please contact the THS counseling office.

Contact or if you have any questions. Make sure to have this done BEFORE your first week of AP World History (whether that’s in the fall or winter). This course moves very quickly, and we will begin with nightly homework the first week of class. It would be extremely challenging to try to play catch up on the summer assignment while trying to stay afloat with the work load of the course. Set yourself up for success now!

Please make sure you have plenty of blue/black ink pens for class!!!

Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing you next year!
