Dallas Baptist University is hosting several information-packed, interactive presentations to help students and parents get ready for application to the colleges of their choice.We hope you will encourage your students to join us at our Hurst-Colleyville Regional Academic Center for one of these College 101 events on June 10 at 6:30pm.

 


1. The following schools have scheduled college visits on the L. D. Bell campus: Interested students should see Mrs. McGuire in the counseling office prior to the scheduled visit for instructions on how to be able to leave class to talk to these college representatives.

2. Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and the University of Texas at Austin have regional centers to help and advise prospective students. 3. Request for Student Make Up Work: If a student will be out for 3 consecutive days or more, parents can request make up work. Requests must be made on or after the 3rd day of absence before 10:00 a.m. Work can be picked up in the Counseling office that day between 3:30 - 4:15 p.m. Please call Mrs. McGuire in the Counseling office to request make up work. You can even call after hours and leave a voice mail. (817) 399-3188.


If you have you have been admitted to Texas A&M University for Fall 2014 need assistance in understanding the financial aid process please let them know that there our Regional office in Arlington will be holding free Financial Aid workshops where we will be explaining the different types of financial aid and how the financial aid process works at Texas A&M University. The workshops are about an hour long and will begin at 6:30pm.

The student or parent needs to call our office 817-375-0960 and reserve a space for one of the workshops as space will be limited.

  • The website for bigfuture is www.bigfuture.org The following information regarding Bigfuture was collected from the 2012 Collegeboard Fall Counselor Workshop:

  • Offers guidance and student perspectives every step of the way.

  • “Texas College and Career (TCC) is an online college and career planning resource site available at no cost to all Texas secondary students, parents, and educators with access to information regarding college options, college preparation, college admissions, career research, and financial planning. The website, provided in English and Spanish, centralizes all the key planning elements of a student’s post-secondary success, including interactive planning tools and personal portfolio development targeted to grades 6-8 and 9-12, key milestone reminders, and communication tools that link student to counselor to parent. Additionally, the site includes unique resources designed especially for students who are at-risk."
