Literacy Day at the Brook (November 2011)

Shady Brook Elementary held its 4th annual Literacy Day in November.  The agenda for the day included celebrity readers for each class and two school programs by Brian Whitley.  This year's star readers were parents, staff and faculty members, the UTA basketball coach and players, board member Dr. Faye Beaulieu, Donavan Lewis from The Ticket and employees from Lipstick Ready. Students enjoyed listening to stories and talking with these wonderful people.  

During the school day, Brian Whitley performed his Buffalo Bill and Wild West Show.  This assembly allowed students to interact with various historical figures and events.  Big thanks to the PTA for bringing this performer to Shady Brook!
