In an abundance of caution, HEB ISD is cancelling all after-school student activities for today, Tuesday, May 21, 2013. All schools will dismiss at the regular time. Buses will run their normal routes at normal times. Hurst Hills Salutes Veterans Veterans, current members of the military, and military families joined the Hurst Hills Elementary School Veterans Day assembly. The event included the Presentation of the Colors, reading of the President's Proclamation, and guest speaker, Colonel Rick Flores, United States Army, Retired. The assembly ended with Suzuki Strings students playing "Taps" in honor of fallen soldiers. Before and after the assembly, guests stopped to view more than 200 names and photos on the Wall of Honor. The Wall of Honor featured information provided by families whose relatives and ancestors served this country, from Pre-Revolutionary colonial militias to current military service.
